Rig / Workovers

WHAT THIS MEANS

As technology continues to advance, new reservoirs are being found deeper and reservoirs that were once deemed cost inefficient can become viable. Often times these call for full rig packages that not only fill the deck with equipment but load the structure near its original design capacity. In some cases, newer rigs exceed the original capacity or significantly alter the topside CG and require an assessment to verify the existing jacket can support the proposed loading. Likewise, as recommended API metocean criteria advances, the potential loading on the platform and required strength may also change since the original design.

Over time, wells can be subjected to numerous environmental and operational conditions. Whether the production tubing or casing strings have compromised structural integrity, down-hole equipment has failed or simply declining reservoir conditions, workover operations are required. Many times the existing deck configuration does not allow for ideal layout of the Workover Rig and support equipment and require rental of large spanning beams or engineering.

VERRIFIED'S APPROACH

Verrified specializes in design and ultimate strength (ULS) assessments to determine the full local and global capacity of the platform. A topsides design level check ensures the platform is suitable for the proposed drilling support equipment while a jacket assessment verifies the jacket can globally support the proposed topside configuration. Jacket assessments can range from simple design assessments for shallow structures to complex nonlinear dynamic irregular sea ULS assessments for deep water structures. This ensures the platform with a full rig package can operate safely and survive the required API criteria.
