Fire and Blast Analysis
WHAT THIS MEANS
Determining the structure’s capacity, or maximum response, to a fire or blast event is often a necessary consideration when designing a new structure or adding new processes to an existing structure.
VERRIFIED'S APPROACH
To determine a structure’s response, Verrified conducts evaluations using industry standards such as API, ASCE, and the Department of Defense, combined with client specifications to determine if the structure meets the desired requirements. In addition, the response of the structure can also be used to determine the amount of damage that may be expected and can help answer some fundamental questions. For example, will the building be safe to occupy, can it continue to be used or is the collapse of the building imminent and therefore must be evacuated?
In addition to evaluations, Verrified also specializes in the design of practical strengthening upgrades in the event a structure does not meet the desired requirements. We focus on trying to minimize the repairs to local strengthening of beams, columns, etc. and/or passive fire protection, but can also design full exterior blast walls should they be deemed necessary.
Verrified’s experience with Fire and Blast Analysis includes:
- New and existing structures and modular buildings
- Onshore structures such as steel and concrete refinery buildings
- Topsides structures for offshore facilities
- Hull structures such as spars and semi-submersibles
